A little bit about me

Updated: Sep 27, 2019

Hi, I am Anupam Prasad, an architect, exploring myself as I walk the path of architecture. I was born in Patna, Bihar and brought up in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. After high-school, fate took me to NIT Trichy, Tamil Nadu, where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Architecture. I got placed in a company in Mumbai soon after graduation, where I worked for about 7 months. I then decided to move to Bengaluru, where I had undergone my internship in the 4th year of college. After three years of architectural design work experience in Bengaluru, I decided to return to Dhanbad and live with my parents, besides exploring the possibility of working as a freelance architect.

Architecture has become an essential part of my life. I have started seeing the world around me through the lens of architecture. In retrospect, even as a kid, I did have a strong inclination towards this subject. I found a lot of joy in playing with building-blocks. I remember cutting my carton-boxes and converting them into garages for my hot-wheels cars. On Diwali (a Hindu festival), I used to work with excitement on gharondas (house models) with my brother, striving to make our dream house with polystyrene sheets and cardboards. Perhaps, Goddess Lakshmi took notice of our gharondas, and by her grace, I managed to get a seat in NIT Trichy.

Architecture school has changed the way I look at life and my love for the subject has only increased with time. It is an unending journey of constant learning, experimentation, exploration and observation. You are always living in the built environment, and there is no end to observing it. Observing what works, what doesn't, and occasionally coming across spaces that inspire you.

I hope to continue walking this path and contributing to the betterment of our built environment.
